Chinese New Year is finally over! Lolx.. counting down..around 7 weeks + a few days to enlistment. So I've been working as a telephone surveyor for 2 days, on fri and sat. What can I say, it's quite ok as u get to work in a comfortable environment. All the conversations were recorded down and u actually get to hear ur own voice. I was listening to the very first conversation I had. Kaoz, I was like thinking y my voice sounds so horrible and like coarse. I can't even really understand what I'm talking, let alone other ppl. Anyway, after making calls to near to like 60 ppl, I think I've improved, but it's still so demn horrible. It's like imagine u hear this kind of voice in radio FM, u will surely feel turned off and feel like slamming ur radio tt kind. Some of the things to take note of.
1) Cut down on SINGLISH. I think my supervisor wanna give up already when I keep saying all the "lar", "loh" and whatever u can think of. Ok, must speak in standard English so as to make yourself sound professional.
2) It really tests you LISTENING COMPRE skills. Yes. Imagine if u ask one question and the customer started talking a mixture of relevant and irrelevant stuff, I'll need to filter away the rubbish and write down only the relevant ones. When ppl said "self-employed", I can actually hear "sales-employed". I have quite abit of hearing problem.
3) Even though the survey is in English, you must KNOW how to translate into Chinese if it happens that ur customer is chi-speaking. Okay, that sucks becuz I don really know how to translate some technical terms like "nanotechnology" and some other terms I seldom heard of.
4) Learn to be polite. Even if the person scolds vulgarities or scold u and start slamming the phone, you will still need to smile and say "Have a nice day. Thank you. Bye." Wtf, that's so sucks.
Nvm, tml is the last day of the project. I think it's gonna be the last day I'm working. I can't speak proper English. Forget it, find a new job on Tues.
